milly young

born in 2002, norwich, uk.
milly young is a contemporary artist specialising in painting, printmaking, and film.
her practice explores memory as a fluid, transient experience - using varied mediums to emulate it’s fragility and fleeting nature. Drawing from archived footage, she combines painting, cyanotype, and moving image to embrace gaps, absences, and the instability of recollection. The fading, ephemeral quality of cyanotypes mirror the way memories blur and resurface over time, while both delicate, layered paintings and flickering, hand-processed film reconstruct fleeting moments - balancing presence and absence. Her work aims to create space for reflection on how we remember, what we forget, and what remains in between. Though the memories depicted are her own, her combination of these various mediums to materialise memory evoke a sense of quiet familiarity -
universally nostalgic.
